Mughal Road reopens for traffic after the closure due to snowfall

Recently the authorities closed Mughal Road due to the untimely snowfall and now the traffic movement has been restored on Tuesday but only for the Light Motor Vehicles.

However, people of South Kashmir especially from Shopian and Kulgam use this road to send the fruit in trucks to Jammu as an alternate highway.

The authorities have said that they are monitoring the situation on this road as after the latest assessment about the conditions prevailing they are allowing only Light Motor Vehicles.

According to the KNT in its report about the reopening of Mughal Road it has said in its news report on Tuesday as follows.

Mughal Road, which connects twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri in the Jammu region with south Kashmir’s Shopian district, had been closed for the traffic after recent snowfall.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that vehicular movement on the Mughal Road has been restored.  He said that light motor vehicles are allowed on both sides while heavy motor vehicles are allowed only from Shopian towards Poonch.

He said that traffic was allowed on the historic road after completion of the snow clearance process.
