Police, CRPF go for surprise checking in Lal Chowk and adjoining areas

On Thursday CRPF assisted by J&K police were seen conducting surprise search operations and also frisking the common people in Lal Chowk, Saraibala and adjacent areas.

It was a surprise search operation conducted in Lal Chowk area after a long time while as a frisking of a bikers and pedestrians is going on in the various parts of Srinagar city as a routine from the past so many days.

These checks and search operations are going on while as the additional paramilitary companies are coming to Srinagar city and at many places they have started making bunkers

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that police and the CRPF conducted surprise search and frisking operation in Saraibala area of the city and its adjoining areas as part of the stepped up vigil in the Srinagar district in the wake of recent spate of killing of civilians and policemen.

“Pedestrians were frisked while shopkeepers were also asked to provide details about salesmen etc,” an official. CRPF personnel were also seen checking identity cards of pedestrians and frisking vehicles.An official told KNO that frisking operations have been intensified in Srinagar in the wake of recent killings of civilians and policemen. “People are requested to cooperate with the police,” he said.

Pertinently, additional CRPF companies have been deployed across Srinagar to assist police.
