DC Srinagar reviews implementation of Employment Generation Schemes

Rs 2935 Cr disbursed among 67257 beneficiaries during current fiscal

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 18: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today chaired a meeting of all Sectoral Officers and Bankers of the district to review the implementation and progress achieved under various employment-generating schemes at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex, here.

The meeting held a detailed discussion with regard to progress (physical and financial) achieved under various employment generation schemes like, NRLM, PMEGP (KVIB), PMEGP (KVIC), PMEGP (DIC), KCC, ST/SC and performance under MUDRA Loans in detail.

On the occasion, the District Development Commissioner was informed that against the physical target of 145792 under Annual Credit Plan for the current financial year, 67257 benefices were covered under different employment Generation Schemes till September, 2021.

Similarly, an amount of Rs 2935 crore has been disbursed to beneficiaries in the district against the financial target of Rs 6574 crore during the same period for setting up their income generating units in the District.

Giving details, the DDC was further informed that under PMEGP total 162 cases were taken up out of which 1382 cases were processed by the Banks and loan has been disbursed in favour of 941 cases. Similarly, 548 cases were taken up under NULM scheme and 434 cases have been processed, while disbursement in favour of 312 cases has been made.

With regard to the MUDRA scheme, the DDC was informed that so far 8632 cases have been sponsored by different departments and an amount to the tune of Rs 253.00 crore have disbursed among the beneficiaries of Srinagar district.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC asked the Bank authorities and Officers of line Departments to maintain close coordination with each other to ensure timely disbursement of loan to the beneficiaries. He asked the officers to encourage local youth to establish income generating units. He said there is a need to bring more educated and unemployed youth under the ambit of different Government schemes.

The DDC further stressed upon them to organize awareness camps across the district to educate the unemployed youth about the various entrepreneurship schemes. He exhorted the departments to sponsor more cases under the self-employment schemes by handholding of youth, as there is huge untapped potential in these schemes.

He also asked the concerned to launch special enrolment drives regarding different employment generation schemes. He instructed the concerned to make dedicated efforts to generate more employment avenues in the district to help the unemployed youth by providing them necessary platforms so that they can earn livelihood with dignity and honour.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, District Programme Officer, ICDS, General Manager DIC, CEO UDAK, Lead District Manager and all the Sectoral/District Officers of allied Departments and Senior Bank Officers of the District.
