Jal Shakti Mission

Under the Jal Shakti Mission, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has been reviewing the progress on the ground and they are setting the timelines for the officials to connect every household with drinking water facilities, especially in the rural areas.

Recently the government held a high level meeting regarding the performance of the Jal Shakti department in order to see the rooms for improvement to accelerate the progress of work on the ground.

Government while reviewing the working of Jal Shakti Department said that the department is entrusted with providing basic needs of water to the local population which needs constant monitoring.

Department also plays a vital role in providing irrigation facilities to the farming community in order to increase and sustain the agricultural productivity here.

Mandate of the Jal Shakti Department is also to develop policies, execute programmes and practices, which would enable the efficient and effective use of the UT’s water resources in an equitable and sustainable manner with active involvement of all stakeholders.

Jal Shakti Department envisages providing functional Household tap connection capable of providing quality drinking water by August, 2022 under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

Government has stressed to concerned officers that quality and quantity both are equally important in the schemes/projects of Jal Jeevan Mission.
