Discusses Covid-19 mitigation efforts

BARAMULLA, JANUARY 13: In view of resurgence in Covid-19 cases across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar today convened a joint meeting of Aimah Masajid/ Imams, Religious heads and other prominent citizens to review the Covid-19 mitigation efforts.

Asserting that the Aimah Masajid and religious heads have a great faith and influence over the people, the DC impressed upon them to play an active role in disseminating the awareness among people with regard to proper implementation of Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB).

The DC urged religious leaders to make people aware with regard to implementation of Covid-19 SOPs in worship places, adding that these religious places contain huge gatherings of people, therefore it is necessary to make people understand for maintaining of Social distance, using of face masks besides proper sanitization of hands.

He also stressed upon the prominent citizens to use their influence in the society so that people will follow CAB religiously.

Later, pamphlets containing information regarding Covid Appropriate Behavior were distributed among the personalities who were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, as the threat of Omicron Variant is persistently increasing on daily basis, District Administration Baramulla has intensified a vaccination cum announcement drive across the Baramulla District.

With regard to the vaccination drive, Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, Bashir Ahmad Malik said that more than 30,000 Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in Baramulla district between the age group of 15-18 Years, while more than 2000 Covid booster doses were administered for the age group of 60 years.

Apart from vaccination drives, announcements were made by district administration across the Baramulla with an aim to make general people aware regarding proper adoption of Covid-19 Appropriate Behavior, wearing of face masks besides maintaining of Social distance in public places.
