There have been complaints in the media about the administering of expired glucose and medicines in different government run medical health facilities but there has been no response from the health department about such allegations.

In one of such examples, media reports said that the authorities have suspended a nurse after a family member of a female patient alleged that she was administered expired glucose in the emergency ward at Sub District Hospital Kellar area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

People have hailed the decision of the authorities but they have said that there should be an audit and inspection in all the sub district hospitals of Shopian and also in other districts like Kulgam and Pulwama so that such expired are thrown out and are not administered on the patients.

According to the KNT while reporting about the suspension of the nurse it has said in its news report on Tuesday as follows.

Chief Medical Officer Shopian, Dr Arshid Hussain Tak confirmed to news agency Kashmir News Trust saying that a Nurse has been suspended till the inquiry is completed. He said that a time-bound inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

Earlier, the family of a patient (wife of Altaf Hussain) of Ringwad village staged a protest against the hospital authorities claiming that the patient developed some complications after she was administered ‘expired’ glucose at SDH Kellar.

The protesters blocked the traffic, prompting authorities to take action against the accused Nurse.
