Infiltration is very down in Jammu and Kashmir in the past five years says MHA

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has said in Rajya Sabha that the infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir has decreased since 2018. Giving the figures MHA said on Wednesday that Estimated Net infiltration during the last five years, Minister of State, MHA, Nityanand Rai said 136 took place in 2017, 143 in 2018, 138 in 2019, 51 in 2020 and 24 in 2021.

In a written reply MHA said that the decrease in the infiltration is due to the efforts and multi pronged approach to contain cross border infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the written reply the government said that they have taken slew of measures to contain infiltration which include multi-tiered deployment along the International Border/Line of Control, border fencing, improved intelligence and operational coordination, equipping security forces with advanced weapons and taking proactive action against infiltrators.
