Khawaja Bazar residents decry pesky power cuts, stage protest

Locals from Khawaja Bazar Nowhatta area of Srinagar city Saturday held a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) for its failure to provide electricity on regular basis in the ongoing holy month of Ramadan.

Eyewitnesses told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a large number of women hit the road near Naqashbandh Sahab shrine and blocked the road. They raised slogans against PDD.

They alleged that even in this holy month of Ramadan, they are being deprived of basic amenities including regular power supply.

Police and civil officials rushed to spot and pacified the protesters with the assurance that smooth power supply will be ensured in the area. (KNT)
