DC Srinagar reviews progress under National TB Elimination Programme

Over 33000 Presumptive Examination samples done for TB detection during 2021-22

SRINAGAR JULY 15:- The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who is also the Chairman District TB Control Society, Friday chaired a meeting here at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex convened to review the progress under National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) to make Srinagar a TB free District.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Sub Divisional Magistrate East, District Disaster Management Officer, District Tuberculosis Officer, Medical Superintendent Chest Disease Hospital, WHO NTEP Consultant, Tehsildar Khanyar, District PPM Coordinator and other concerned.

 At the outset, the DC was given a comprehensive brief of Public and Private Sector engagement under National TB Elimination Programme in the District through a PowerPoint Presentation.

The DC took a detailed overview of the Programme activities in public and private sectors for the year 2021 and 2022 including TB Notification, TB Score Index, achievements of Key Programme Indicators, Nikshay Poshan Yojana, Drug Sale Data.

On the occasion, the DC stressed the all concerned to redouble efforts in active case finding besides enhancing TB testing capacity among TB suspects. He also called for launching massive awareness regarding the programme to achieve the goal of TB free Srinagar. He also passed several directions for ensuring every TB care service is promptly delivered at ground level.

The DC asked the officers to take action against such clinical establishments which are not adhering to the NTEP guidelines. He asked the concerned to conduct massive inspections of clinical establishments to check that all laid down procedures are followed in letter and spirit.

The DC also stressed upon the concerned officers to take immediate measures for resolving issues related to data redundancy with the concerned Department to avoid any duplicity in the data.

The DC stressed upon all stakeholders that in order to make Srinagar TB free within a year, every health establishment in private sector shall ensure notification of TB cases to Nodal Officer immediately, besides the parameters associated with TB notification like UDST, HIV, Diabetic Testing shall be verified by the Private Health facility and recorded in the notifying formats and in case, if any, test has not been done, the concerned private health facility should send the patient to the nearest public health facility for said tests.

During the meeting, it was given out that as many as 13112 Presumptive Examination for TB detection were conducted during 2021, while 20027 such test were also conducted  from January to June this year by District TB Society Srinagar.

It was also given out that Srinagar is well on the route to become TB free District by March 2023.
