Near the borders security forces pick up drone activities

Latest reports from the Jammu division have suggested that there has been some drone activity near the borders and the security forces have enhanced the alertness to avert any dropping of weapons by these drones on this side of the border.

Recently security forces were able to foil such attempts in some parts of the borders especially in Samba and Kathua sectors.

Now the latest reports have said that army troops fired a few rounds on spotting a drone near the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the news agencies quoting army officials have said that alertness has helped, “Drone was spotted late last night near the Line of Control in Mendhar area of Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch,” Army sources said.

They said the Army troops deployed in the area opened fire at the flying object following which it returned to the PoJK side.

“Army along with Police and Paramilitary forces launched a search operation in the area to rule out any air dropping,” they said.

Notably, the security grid has been enhanced in the twin border districts Rajouri and Poonch in view of the upcoming Baba Budha Amarnath Yatra starting from July 29.

Earlier on July 6, drone activity was also spotted near the international border in Samba district.
