Jammu and Kashmir has rich Cultural Heritage and the government wants to preserve it and make it one of the main planks of tourism to attract more and more people to visit here.

Recently Lt Governor reviewed the action plan for Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Ancient Cultural Heritage in J&K.

He said that conservation efforts must retain the aesthetic, historic and social values of our great civilizational & cultural legacy.

He directed the Culture Department to adopt value-based conservation with the help of experts; ensure transparency & effective onsite monitoring of projects.

He asked the officers to identify shrines, places having historical, cultural, and religious significance; work should follow value-based methodologies and an integrated approach to conservation.

He called for organising cultural exchange programmes of artists with other states/ UTs furthering ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ movement

He asked the department to make dedicated efforts for handholding of artists; besides developing digital libraries to promote intangible heritage & knowledge heritage.

Cultural exchange programs would be of great help to introduce the heritage circuit of Jammu and Kashmir to the rest of people.
