20 passengers wounded in Handwara road mishap, 9 shifted to hospital
Kupwara, Nov 8 : At least 20 passengers on board were wounded after a bus turned turtle in the Watayin area of North Kashmir’s Handwara town on Tuesday morning.
Official sources said that a bus (JK09-1239) coming from Kupwara overturned when the driver lost control of it in Watayin village. The passengers on board were wounded and shifted to Handwara hospital.
They said all the wounded passengers are stable while some of them were admitted to the district hospital Handwara for treatment while others were discharged after being given first aid.
A medico at Handwara hospital told news agency Kashmir News Trust that they received 9 wounded passengers who are being treated and are stable.
He identified them as Ghulam Qadir Dar of Bumhama Kupwara, Abdul Rashid Ganai of Shumnag Kupwara, Abdul Khalil Bhat of Kuligam, Musaib Bilal of Kawari Kupwara, Firdous Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Chowgal Handwara, Muhammad Akbar Hajam of Haihama Kupwara, Aijaz Ahmed Bhat of Gulgam Kupwara, Ghulam Rasool of Vodhpora Kupwara and Parveen Akhtar, a resident of Kagnabal Handwara.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law in this regard. (KNT)
