DC Srinagar reviews implementation of PMAY-Urban

1117 housing units completed in District, over 1600 houses at different phases of construction

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 21:- In order to review the implementation and progress under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Urban in the District, a meeting of the Officers of line Departments was held under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad here on Monday at Conference Hall Of DC Office Complex.

Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, DGM, Housing Board, Bashir Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Raies Ahmad, and other concerned from Housing Board were present in the meeting.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner was given a detailed overview about the implementation of the PMAY-Urban scheme in the District through a PowerPoint presentation.

With regard to target achieved under Beneficiary Led Individual House Construction(BLC) and Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme, the DC was appraised that as on November 14, 2022 a total of 3379 houses under the PMAY-U have been sanctioned in the District out of which 1117 houses have been completed so far. It was also given out that more than 1600 houses are under different phases of construction.

The DC was also apprised that work at 248 sites has started very recently by motivating the eligible verified beneficiaries and shall be completed well before the set timeline.

On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned Officers to ensure that the scheme guidelines are followed in letter and spirit so that all genuine eligible beneficiaries are covered under the PMAY-U scheme in the District.

The DC enjoined upon the concerned Officers to compile the data about the beneficiaries by checking all parameters as per the scheme guidelines including title verification as per Revenue records so that cases are forwarded for release of payment under the scheme.

The DC asked all the concerned Officers that after undertaking proper demand survey in the District it should be ensured that not a single genuine beneficiary is left out of the coverage of the scheme. He also stressed on maintaining utmost transparency and accountability and ensuring that the beneficiary is not given benefit under more than one component of the Mission and proper Adhaar details of the beneficiaries are obtained.

During the meeting, DC was also given first hand appraisal about progress and present status of recovery of payments from In-eligible beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the DC also stressed that awareness shall be created among the people for new registration against the curtailed beneficiaries in PMAY scheme, so that the eligible persons/uncovered beneficiaries can apply and take benefit of the same.

The meeting was informed that the Government is providing additional support through Interest Free Loan(IFL) to the extent of Rs 2 Lakh to the beneficiaries who are unable to complete the construction of their houses under PMAY scheme.
