Search operation turns into encounter in Magam locality

Budgam, Jan 15:  search operation turned into an encounter in Redbugh area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday.

Earlier, Joint forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in many localities of Magam town in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Reports said that joint teams of Army, police and CRPF cordoned off SK Pora, Redbugh and adjoining areas and sealed all entry and exit points to these areas.

Reports said that the search operation was launched following inputs about militant movement in these areas.

Reports added gun shots were heard in the area during the search operation.

The exchange of fire was going on in the area at the time this report was filed. [KNT]
