The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party President and Member of the Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that spreading hate in the name of religion will bring ruin to the nation.
This he said while interacting with the press in Ashmuqam, Anantnag. Referring to the underway Bharat Jodo Yatra, the party president said that the foot march was against the hatred and fear being spread in society in the name of religion. “Our constitution is being undermined, which gives equal rights and opportunities to every single citizen of our country. It doesn’t discriminate,” he said.
He further said that if the trend continues it will bring ruin to the country. “We cannot have material progress without social unity. We all irrespective of our color, creed and religion should come forward and join our efforts to defeat this menace. Bharat Jodo Yatra is a right step in that direction.”
He added, “Our pundit brethren, who are our flesh and blood, had to leave the valley. I hope the day comes and comes very soon, when they come back with dignity. God willingly, we will surmount all problems provided we remain United and not allow these communal forces divide us.”(KNS)
