The government of Jammu and Kashmir is mulling to prepare a database of drug addicts in all districts.
Sources told a local news agency, Kashmir News Trust (KNT), that the need for database preparation has arisen due to the massive drug menace and intensity of narco- trade.
Police have so for busted multiple modules involved in narco-trade.
Sources said that services of lower rung employees from the Health Department and village representatives will be availed to prepare a database of drug addicts.
Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar has already directed the concerned officers to utilize the services of ASHA workers, PRIs, Numberdars, and Chowkidars so that a database of drug addicts is prepared and they are rehabilitated properly.
Sources added that heads of other districts of Kashmir Valley will follow suit and they will also pass the same directions.
“Several measures are being undertaken to break the chain of drug peddling and its consumption in the Valley to save youth from the ill effects of drug abuse. The government will also sanitize students about drug menace using various methods including screening of movies in schools and colleges and organizing awareness programs,” said an official.
Government in coming days will intensify the drive against the drug menace, the official added. [KNT]
