Sinthan top road to open for LMVs tomorrow

Sinthan top road will open for Light moter vehicles that are in good condition from 15/03/2023 from 09:00AM onwards to 12:00 noon daily.

An official said that keeping in view the request of the people in general and to promote tourism sector, it is hereby ordered that LMVs in good condition shall be allowed to move on this road till Top form 15/03/2023 from 09:AM onwards to 12:00 noon daily.

“Whereas, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag,the road up to Sinthan Top was cleared on 22nd February 2023, by Kokernag Administration through NHIDCL (PMU Kishtwar): and whereas, the undersigned has been approached by many public delegations requesting that traffic be allowed till top especially in light of the fact that several tourists are showing interest in visiting Sinthan Top which could boost tourism in the entire area; and vide letter No. NHIDCL/PMU-Kishtwar/Snow Clearance/2022-23/383; Dated: 07/03/2023, NHIDCL and Tourism Department have informed that all requisite steps as directed by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, like 4*4 camper with all facilities, prefab toilet near Sinthan Top, signage Boards, etc., stand taken and the road is ready to be opened.” Reads a order issued by SDM Kokernag, a copy of which lies The Kashmir Scroll.

“Now therefore, keeping in view the request of the people in general and to promote tourism sector, it is hereby ordered that LMVS in good condition shall be allowed to move on this road till Sinthan Top form 15/03/2023 from 09:AM onwards to 12:00 noon daily with conditions: that ATO Kokernag shall make proper entries of driver and passengers at Daksum where he shall set up a special post in collaboration with NHIDCL and shall have proper registers for record, monitoring and assistance, communication and contingencies and shall also control the traffic, number of passengers, adherence to timings, etc., in coordination with Tehsildar Lamoo and under guidance of SDPO Kokemag on real time basis, No Traffic shall be allowed to move from Daksum towards Sinthan after 12 noon on any day and all the vehicles shall have to necessarily start their return from Sinthan Top by or before 02:00 PM everyday.” It adds further.

“Naib Tehsildar Larnoo (7889664560) shall be the nodal officer from Revenue side as well as the magistrate on duty for the entire process aided by SHO Lamoo (9906803064) who shall be the nodal officer for the movement from Police Department, The 4’4 camper vehicle of NHIDCL with all lifeline and rescue facilities, along with 02 tourist police officials shall be the 1st vehicle to go Sinthan Top daily and shall park in mobile network area at the top. It shall be the last vehicle to return daily at 02:00 PM. They shall report on daily basis to Tehsildar Larnoo and also render all possible assistance to Tourists at Sinthan Top, ATO Kokernag shall share and widely publicise helpline numbers for the tourists and shall also share daily roster of Tourist Police with Tehsildar Larnoo, SDPO Kokemag Shall also chalk out contingency plans in collaboration with Tehsildar Larnoo and NHIDCL for any eventuality., CEO KDA is requested to make all arrangements like toilet, refreshment, activities at the top to ensure the tourists have good experience and Finally, as advised by NHIDCL, the travellers are advised to take all precautions and travel on their own risk and responsibility as the area is still susceptible to shooting stones, land slides, etc., in this season.” It reads further—(KS)
