Water conservation

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir is trying to focus on water conservation and is trying to promote water harvesting in many areas.

Under Jal Shakti Abhiyan, the central government is already providing a lot of funds so that no household remains without safe drinking water.

Recently the Union Joint Secretary e-reviewed implementation of Jal Shakti Abhiyan in Bandipora district.

He asked the concerned officials in Bandipora district to take immediate measures to address the challenges being faced while implementing the programme. He also urged upon the stakeholders to work together to achieve the common goal of water conservation and water security in the district.

While concluding the review meeting, Amitabh Ranjan appreciated the efforts of the district administration and said that the meetingĀ  was a significant step towards achieving the program’s objectives in the district.

Earlier, DDC presented a detailed report on progress achieved under the program including the number of water conservation structures built, amount of water harvested and the number of households that have been provided with access to safe drinking water. He said that geo tagging at most of the places has already been completed besides encroachment drives around the water bodies have also been conducted successfully.
