Drug Abuse

Every district of Jammu and Kashmir government is trying to prevent Drug Abuse and narcotics trade.

Recently DC Srinagar chaired NCORD meeting on Prevention of Drug Abuse & Narcotics Trade.

He laid emphasis on Zero Tolerance policy against drugs to save youth from its ill effects. He was briefed during the review meeting that 107 cases registered, 186 drug peddlers arrested under PITs-PSA in District during last one year.

He chaired a District Level meeting on Prevention of Drug Abuse & Narcotics Trade(NCORD) here at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex to review theĀ  measures taken by Law Enforcement Agencies and other Stakeholders to curb the menace of drug abuse and drug peddling in Srinagar District. Besides, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Ahmad Kataria and Superintendent of Police, Umer Shah, the meeting was attended by, Chief Education Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Chief Agricultural Officer, Deputy Drug Controller, ARTO, DDMO Srinagar, Incharge Drug De-addiction Centre SMHS Hospital, Incharge ATF, SKIMS Bemina and Officers from ANTF, Excise, Labour, DYSSO and other Departments. He took a detailed appraisal from concerned members of NCORD Committee regarding implementation of the deterrence measures taken and progress achieved to eliminate drug abuse and its peddling from the Srinagar District. He also reviewed the present scenario of drug related occurrences, treatment facilities for victims of substance abuse and rehabilitation measures taken by Administration, besides anti-drugs awareness campaign and drug deterrence measures in place in Srinagar District.
